Fractal Explorer (also listed as Fractals)
Light Year Software, LLC (“we”, “us”)
Effective 2 August 2026
Summary
Fractal Explorer does not collect any data about you. There are no accounts, no
analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. The
app has no server, and we receive nothing from it — not your bookmarks, not what
you look at, not how often you open it, not even a count of installs beyond the
anonymous figures Apple reports to every developer.
What the app stores
Everything the app saves stays on your device:
- Bookmarks: the names you give them and the coordinates, formula and
coloring they point at. - Your last view, so the app opens where you left it.
- Settings, such as the palette and coloring options.
- Window positions and sizes, kept by the operating system.
This is written to the app’s own storage on your device. Deleting the app
deletes all of it.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your bookmarks are synchronized between your own
devices using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. This is a feature of your Apple
account, not a service we run: the data goes to Apple, stays within your account,
and is not visible or accessible to us. Apple’s handling of it is described in
the Apple Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. If you are not
signed in to iCloud, the app synchronizes nothing and works exactly as it does
otherwise.
Diagnostics
The app can write performance information to the operating system’s log —
frame timings and renderer state, used during development. These entries stay
on your device and are never transmitted to us.
If you choose to send a crash report or diagnostic data to Apple, Apple may share
it with us in aggregated form. This is controlled entirely by your device
settings, under Privacy & Security, and it contains no bookmarks or other content
you created.
What the app never does
- It requests no permissions — no camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos
or notifications. - It makes no network connections of its own.
- It shows no advertising and contains no tracking or attribution code.
- It does not identify you, profile you, or build any record of your use.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what it stores or sends, this policy will
be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will
change.
