RIP Search Bleach
Search Bleach, Light Year’s extension for Safari, Chrome and Firefox that hid Google search results from a list of domains, was made obsolete today. Google announced that hiding domains is now built-in:
You’ve probably had the experience where you’ve clicked a result and it wasn’t quite what you were looking for. Many times you’ll head right back to Google. Perhaps the result just wasn’t quite right, but sometimes you may dislike the site in general, whether it’s offensive, pornographic or of generally low quality.
As a friend of mine quipped on Twitter, it’s only 5 years too late. Maybe not too late, but certainly long overdue.
Safari isn’t supported yet, so Search Bleach isn’t completely useless, but its days are clearly numbered.
So long, Search Bleach, and thanks for making Google results a lot less annoying these past few months.
